The Annual Congressional Baseball Game has raised money for charities since it was first started in 1909 by John Tener of Pennsylvania. The all-American sport is played by members of both parties in the Senate and House, creating the ultimate face-off between the Democrats and the Republicans.
The tickets to watch the representatives play hardball on the field go for $10 each and the growing popularity of the event has allowed the high level of revenues to go to a number of different charities.Currently, the fundraiser has contributed to charities all in the D.C. area including The Washington Literacy Council, The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation.
This years 54th annual game was held on June 11th at Nationals Park and was aired by C-SPAN and the President of the United States showed up at the end of the game to congratulate the Democrats on their win. C-SPAN gave all who attended custom drawstring bags shaped as baseballs that we made just for being there! We love these bags and think they were the perfect promo for the fun event!
