The Essence Music Festival takes place every summer in New Orleans, Louisiana and features a lineup of artists, speakers, and attractions for 3 days straight. This year’s festivities include performances by top artists like Common, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliot, Usher, Trey Songz, and speakers including Al Sharpton, Anita Wilson, Sheinelle Jones, Jussie Smollett, and Jessica Reedy. Guests can buy individual tickets for the performances but the speakers are free for all. Attendees will also be to try good ole’ southern cooking from the finest restaurants in New Orleans with #EssenceEats! From July 2-5, the guests will definitely get a good taste of the southern culture!

Black Girls Rock! is an annual award show that recognizes and honors women of color around the world who have excelled in visionary aspects. The organization also gives out scholarships and encourages the empowerment of all woman.
