Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, set up two beer machines on July 6th that allows the fans to serve themselves their own beer! The machines were made by Draft Serv and are the first of their kind to be placed in an athletic setting. To use the machines, fans just add $10, $20, or $50 to a provided card and just swipe it anytime they need a refill. Once the fans have their cards, they can choose from 4 different beers; Budweiser, Bud Light, Shock Top Lemon Shandy, and Goose Island 312. The cups that are provided with the machines are 48 ounces and can be filled up however much the customer would like. The machines can only be used every 15 minutes and employees are there to check ID’s and signs of inebriation. The costs of these self-serve drafts are less than at a regular concession, which doesn’t benefit the stadium or beer companies. But since concessions are such a big part of the ballpark atmosphere, these Draft Servs will definitely excite the fans! The machines at Target Field are a test to see how consumers respond it them. If there is positive feedback, you can look forward to more Draft Servs at other stadiums!
