TRENDHUNTER:Spotting a “keep off the grass” sign in a public park can sometimes be off-putting, but necessary to keep the grass looking pristine and well-kept. The ‘Nature’s Playground’ campaign by National Trust takes the complete opposite approach.
England’s National Trust is devoted to protecting buildings with historical significance, wildlife and parks. With the help of design agency ‘Click Design,’ National Trust set up signs which encourage walking on the grass, touching nature and pointing out great spots to sit down.
Certain images and emphasis on text makes the signs initially appear like they are deterring this kind of behavior. But upon closer inspection, the friendly, brightly-colored signs are a nice play on getting people to interact with nature and to enjoy it without feeling like they are in a strict museum setting.
